I'm posting new pix of Tiki, my unidentified ~3-week-old bantam chick (purchased from TSC 04/15/11). I've been looking through all the bantam breeds, and the only one I've found that looks anything like him/her (to my very untrained eye) is the Serama. Tiki has 4 toes, clean legs that are yellow with brown, kind of chipmunk stripes on the back (though not terribly pronounced), a mostly brown beak, brown ears and greenish-brown eyes. Here are the pix:

Any opinions on breed, gender, age?

Definitely not a serama! TSC would not carry seramas, as almost no hatcheries have them, and the bird's shape is not remotely serama-like. Not sure what Tiki is, but those are some big legs! You might just have a rooster there.

That's what I thought, that TSC wouldn't have them. And I guess it was more the coloring that seemed similar to me. I just can't find anything that seems to match my little (likely) Roo. But then, I'm very new at this, so my opinions are not the most reliable. lol Thanks for chiming in!

I would definately say it is a rooster,....he will be crowing soon Im sure. The breed,..well maybe a partridge rock bantam??? He has the leg color and the beak color,...also the feather color. You said he had chipmunk stripes??? I would say a Partridge Rock Bantam,....but Im just guessing,...

He has vague dark lines running down both sides of his back that remind me of chipmunk stripes. Partridge Rock does look a little similar in coloring. Here's a picture from earlier this week that shows his stripes and wing pattern:

I guess my next concern is what to do with him. If y'all are right and Tiki is a roo, I won't be able to keep him.

Thanks. My son was not pleased that we may have to rehome Tiki.

Anyone else have guesses as to breed? I'd really like to know what to say when people ask what kind of chick he is.
