bantam chick-torn crop, Please HELP!!!

YAY!! I think the superglue did the trick. She has been eating and drinking all day and no leaking. She is pooping way more than yesterday. I examined her good today and redressed the wound just in case but I think the problem is solved, or at least I hope it is.
Thanks everyone for helping me out on this!!

Hey i know super glue works awesome for these kinds of things, but you have to make sure you pulled the skin together then put it on the outside over the hole. If its on the edges of the skin it may get to hard and not let the skin heal back together.

I hope you understand what im trying to say its not sounding right to me? i mean like super glue it while your holding it shut, instead of how you would glue together like a piece of plastic or something...that makes a little more sense LOL
Sorry about sounding retared!

I'm so glad to hear all is going well

I understand Nikkumz, lol. Thats kinda what I did because I was scared that I might cause some major problem if I got glue on the inside of her crop. I hope I don't have to do anything like this again though, I was so scared for this little thing.
It's funny how attached you can get to something so tiny, lol

super glue is what my vet used on the gash my dogs leg when he was bitten by our puppy. (jack russell vs golden retriever puppy pin teeth!)
Just make sure you check in every day for the first week because it can split open again if the animals too active (happened twice with our dog... wouldn't stay settled)

How is she doing today? You will need to keep a super close eye on her and watch for any changes in behavior, eating habits, or droppings. If you have a gram scale, get it out and start weighing her daily (preferably at the same time every day). I have worked with a board certified avian vet and torn crops are often deadly. I remember one cockatiel that we had that had been attacked by a dog. There were no obvious wounds to her neck and we started her on antibiotic injections and supportive care which included tube feeding. Three days after the attack, she suddenly took a turn for the worse and the Dr. thought we had punctured her crop with the feeding tube (an inexperienced person was doing some of the feeding). We took her to surgery and it turned out that she had multiple punctures to her crop from the dog attack. Sadly, she died on the surgery table.

I really hope the super glue works for her. But my experience with ruptured crops has been less than encouraging. Keep a close close eye on her for the next week because when they go downhill they go down fast.
