Haha, busy, that's another good word for it!! I love how you describe your birds!

Definitely, my Cochins range from being calm and aloof to being like your Sebright; bossy, but not mean. My OEGBs fall solidly into that 'busy' category, always on the move and always doing something. There's something just so adorable about how much those teeny-tiny birds zoom around all day. Only time they're still is when they're looking up at me with those big eyes asking for attention, or for me to lift them to their perch in the evening like the little princesses they are. They fly to my shoulders if I don't notice them soon enough, but absolutely refuse to fly to their perch, which is about waist high on me, on their own.

Mine take a lot of big naps during the day, though. Like power naps! I call them dog piles! Ahhh yours want you to lift them to their perch! That's awesome!

Thoughts on chicken diapers?!! I ordered some because I still haven't figured out how I'm going to keep my two illegal roosters during the warm months!! I figure I'm safe October-May or maybe June...but then people start leaving their windows open at night! Oh city life!!! But I love my boys and don't want to part with them!!!

Thank you, she was a sweet little hen. I'd really hoped to hatch from her and my silkied Cochin rooster to see if I could get more lovely, silkied black birds, even if they were mixes, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Oh, well.

Haha, I've heard that about their temperaments! Mine are sort of anti-Silkie in that respect, it seems. They've never been overly docile or stupid, really.

You know, except for some silly moments like that one time my Paint rooster, Reuben, was trying to seem really impressive by flapping into the air and ended up landing in the poop-scooping bucket.

Honestly, with my Silkies, I really fell in love with their feathering, but the breed is just not that interesting to me, personality-wise. So it's not that I hate them or anything, but they're just kind of... meh? Not like my sassy little silkied Cochin bantams, who have the Silkie feathering I love along with all the bantam Cochin attitude and personality. Can't get enough of them!

But anyway, I do understand why people like Silkies a lot and I don't blame you at all for enjoying your silly, fuzzy birds.

Great photos! The Cochin bantams really are all sass!! I was looking back at some little videos I had of when they were tiny chicks and the Cochins have always been the sassiest! Sebrights coming in a close second...!

I house my Bantams indoors during the winter. I have several pens for them in my basement. I recommend building pens in your basement or garage.

Great idea but I don't have a basement and my garage is even closer to the neighbors!! And I wouldn't keep anything I loved in my garage it's so old!

My eggs are on day 18 of incubation and all of them are looking good. Hopefully I’ll have lots of little Dutch Bantam chicks by Wednesday!

I have some Dutch Bantam eggs in my incubator on day 14! It’s my first hatch of the season. Is anyone else here hatching eggs this time of year?

Where did you get your Dutch eggs? The Dutch bantams seem to be rather elusive. I have some from Strombergs but after talking to different people about it...they are more than likely Dutch/OEGB crosses. I love their personalities so I'm deciding whether I want to designate my second chicken coop/run to Bantams or LF. Those Dutches and the D'Uccles make me think maybe I don't need LF!!
