Bantam chickens with normal chickens?

I recall someone on the forum last year had a sad situation with a standard roo/bantam hen. I cannot imagine that would turn out too well for the hen.

A lot depends on what breeds, their personalities, and how much room they have. Are there high perches - things to hide under - alternate feed and water stations? Those are things I would consider before mixing sizes.

My entire clan listed below (except the bunnie, cat & kids

) all live together in harmony in a 10x12 coop and range from 5 mos. to 3 years of age. My Nankin is no bigger than a mourning dove and the Japanese is just a bit bigger, they have no problems with the bigger girls and 2 Roos. (I now have 28 guinea eggs, 7 mallard mix and 2 wood duck eggs in the bator, I'd better put an addition on soon!

I have a Golden Sebright hen in with my standards, all 12 weeks old. It has worked out fine, no picking on her etc., but she does not seem to blend in with the rest of the group as well now that they are older, she stays more on her own. I feel like she might be better off and happier with her own size/kind and am considering rehoming her. Especially since one of my RIR "pullets" has turned out to be a roo.

Bantams and standards can live together just fine. They will have to go through the normal pecking order, but once established, they are all good.

As a matter of fact, I had a banty RIR who was the top hen before we got our rooster.

You know, because they only take up 1/2 the space of a standard, and eat less, you could get twice as many as you were planning on.

Just a thought!

Thanks for the replies/advice everyone!
Roos are not allowed where I live and the property I live on is not that big but big enough for about 8 chooks lol.
My hens are gentle and are not much harm (they're abit messy though

we're turning an old swingset into a coop and its alot bigger than the one we have now (fit for 2 (max 3) chooks).
My guess is that they will get along fine.
No problems, right?
