Bantam Cochin Colors/Patterns/ Genetics HELP

I have bantam black cochins and i have had birds for 10 years but i just recently started a breeding program. I bought my first breeding stock and they are black cochins. I bred them and as they grew, white started popping up. Turns out it's a different hidden color pattern. I breed goats so i am farmiliar with genetics and whatnot but is there any change someone could give me more info and how i can cull for pure blacks? I would really appreciate if you could dumb it down for me! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It is quite common for "black" chickens to have some white feathers when young--many of them look pure black when they're grown up.

I don't know of any shortcut in selecting for black: just raise a bunch, and keep the best.
