Bantam Cochin- Frizzle or maybe frazzle?

Looks like a frizzle to me.
I've had many frizzles and some have looked as that one and some maybe even worse.
I've only had two frazzles and they were half bald or more.
If not breeding him it really don't matter either way. He doesn't appear bad enough off to have much concerns.
If breeding him it really isn't a concern either.
You should never breed frizzle to frizzle so either way he should only be bred to straight feathered.
When bred if he produces about 50% frizzles then he is a frizzle.
If he is a frazzle then every chick he produces will be frizzle.

I think I’ll just wait and see and see how he feathers in. Seeing the bald spots though makes me nervous about what temperatures he can tolerate right now (although I’m in Southern California so the next few weeks are around 50-80).

A bit blurry, but this guy was a frazzled. His feathers are extra curly and they broke off easily. Yours is just young I think, and I was wondering what you are feeding? Feathers require good protein to grow in. My frazzled would grow in his feathers but they would eventually break off. There's a reason frazzles are also called curly, the feathers are rolled into curls, where frizzle is just rolled up a bit. I kept that frazzled here in Wisconsin during the winter without any extra heat. Yours will be fine.

They’re on grower feed (and are around 7 1/2 weeks old) with I think either 18 or 18.5% protein

I can never stop worrying... so he seems to have some more feathers growing in but still big bald spots but his back seems to be curling like the photo you posted.

Hmmm, it does look more frazzled now doesn't it. Time will tell for sure. It isn't necessarily a death sentence, just means it will have brittle feathers that break easily. The one good thing about a frazzled is they will produce 100% frizzle when bred I believe.

I received some frizzles from a hatchery and I am thinking that they are frazzles do to their bodies are more bald than the others. I wanted to know if their feathers grow back and if they will be actual frizzles after that?

If they are actually frazzled, than they will remain that way unfortunately.
