I am new to chicken conformation and the SOP, so am curious as to your thoughts on this (the blue) 4-5 month old cockerel. Of the 3 that I have, I like him the most- his shape appeals to me, as well as his feathering and overall appearance. That said, I don’t know very much besides a couple of reads of the SOP :) Would really appreciate your thoughts/critique!

I don't think many people show on this site. I'm no expert, but he looks a bit long in the leg, and short on foot feathers.

His comb has too many points too, sop says 5 points. His tail isn't well defined either, and in general he lacks the compact rounded shape. He may shape up as he matures more, but he may remain too lean looking.

For pet quality he's gorgeous in my opinion, but I like bantam cochins.

Love Bantam Cochins. I don't show, but I agree with old hen. He's not round enough looking to me. I know next to nothing about the SOP, but all those I've seen that are show birds are very low and round. He's lovely, though I am personally partial to that iridescent fella next to him in the second pic! Love that coloring!

Bantam Cochins’ middle toes need to be mostly feathered (an unfeathered middle toe is a disqualification). The lack of five-point comb usually is just a small flaw. If his middle toe is feathered and he is near the correct weight (I think 28 ounces) he probably wouldn’t be disqualified. However, his feet are supposed to be yellow and they look white so that could be a problem. The tip of his beak should also be yellow.
