bantam cochin possibly egg bound.... HELP

YEAHHHHHHH.... she passed the egg and is looking much better!!!!!

This is the egg......

And this is my sweet girl!!!!

Thanks to all.... I plan to keep her in for a few days with some treated water to cover any infection from the process.... Will let you know!!!

My black Bantam is having the same trouble but has heavy breathing. I have taken her to the vet and she is on antibiotics. my girl has been this way for 5 days now and is very lethargic. and has lost a bunch of weight. i dont know what to do other than what you have tried. Any other advise?

Thanks in advance. I love my little girl to much to loose her.

My cochin bantie pullet is egg bound. Following all recommendations and no local vet who is willing to see poultry. Even the "bird doc" somehow thinks banties are not "avian" Any more suggestions of what else I can do?

That's so infuriating, Henrietta! I dont' have experience with eggbound hens being a new chicken keeper, but I'm sure there are many on the forum who do! Good luck!

Hi, I soaked her in water a couple of times, (not amused!) and have her parked on a heating pad. Nothing. I have heard that liquid calcium (gluconate) is a solution but that is only available from a vet. And I can't find one.

Finally found a vet willing to see "poultry"! She was great, the waiting room was full of the resident cats and another client with a baby snapping turtle! Anyway Iris (bantie) had a shot of calcium. She was pretty well behaved considering .... And now we are waiting for "breakfast" as the tech put it!! She can have another shot if this one doesn't do the job. She is still sitting on a heating pad.
