Our only purebred bantam cochin that hatched, so we're reeeeally hoping it's a girl. Here it is a 4 weeks. Not much to show for a comb; saw pics of 3-week mille fleur cochin cockerels from the same breeder and they had big pink ones already! Buuut the lack of tail is troubling (though cute as heck - such a little puffball!); I read that cockerels grow tails out more slowly than pullets? What do you think? Also is that coloration silver-laced? I'll update it as she/he develops.

Here *she* is again, at 7 weeks! Thinking it's pretty likely she's a she... but what do you think? She still doesn't have much of a tail, which threw me for a loop since I read bantam cochin pullets sprout tails faster than cockerels.

She's also the first SL cochin I've ever had - actually my first SL anything. How does her lacing look for her age? Will it get better as she gets older?

She looks like a pullet to me! Very pretty. My little girl (Buff bantam Cochin) is almost 14 weeks and still has a tiny tail. Her brothers had pretty big tails.
