I have 5 Bantam Cochins that are about 20 weeks old. They have been outside all summer in a dog run with a NICE dog house for shelter. I have put purches (2x4s) in it and it has wood shavings on the floor. However, they prefer to roost outside on the 2x4s on cinder blocks. They will not go in the house at all.
HELP!!
I know they will be laying soon (red combs and wattles) and would like them in the hen house for the winter.
Any ideas? Should I rebuild? My Ameraucanas Loved this set up until I moved them to the big house.

Maybe if you remove the outdoor roost they'll move inside. You could also go out after they roost outside and move them to the indoor roost. It takes a few days to retrain them. Definitely I would remove the outdoor roost at least until they start going indoors. Then again, they may move indoors on their own as the nights get colder.
