Hello :frow,

I've got 5 bantam cuckoo marans which are 7 1/2 weeks old. I read somewhere that birds with lighter colouring are boys - is that always the case with cuckoo marans or can some light-coloured ones be girls?

Of my 5, 3 are darker and 2 light. I'm pretty sure the light ones are boys. They're also bigger and have more comb development than the darker ones. Am I right?!

Here's a couple of pics (sorry about the quality) one with a darker chick next to 'him' and a close up taken about a week ago.

Thanks :)

No! The three light ones! If they all three have a large red comb like the one pictured. Sorry to scare you! :hugs

Oh phew! Sorry lol, think we got our wires crossed...only 2 of the marans are light-coloured. Yes the light ones both have similar red combs. 2 out of 5's not bad I suppose. We also have one bantam pekin (cochin?) definite boy that's the kids' favourite (typical!) so I'll have to come up with a plan for the marans boys I think :(

Thanks!
