While I haven't expended that much on a single pair of Calls, it's been REALLY close to that.
I don't feel like a poor soul, I feel like I wanted birds from Dennis Fuller, Art Lundgren lines, Lee Morey and Charlie Hodum and I was willing to pay the price.
I've already gotten enough orders for their eggs/offspring to make them pay for themselves-I actually feel pretty lucky to have them.
You want the best, you have to pay for the best-Calls are no exception.

Art charges $100 per bird which is very reasonable, since IMO he is one of the very best breeders of Calls right now. Bob has friends in high places and can probably get good deals on Calls, but $250 for a pair of GOOD Calls is about right, especially when you consider how few good Calls there are these days.

That's great! If you have the ear of an amazing Call breeder and they are willing to give you good deals and great tips on these beautiful little birds, you are very fortunate!

Received a call yesterday about an enclosed carport in a state ASC does not service. Sort of wished we could have helped. The carports would be for breeding pens of those Chocolate Orpingtons etc. On http://www.featherauction.com/search.asp?searchtxt=HarmonyHillFarms&searchtype=2 four of their listings are at $5,000. I was told that the 'profits" from this will go towards their church's ministry to drug addicts. I was impressed with what they said. Just wished I could have helped them with their barns. What folks are paying for is the importation costs. Plus you have a bidding war. On one you have 8 bidders. The final cost will be up to the bidders, not the sellers. It will still take generations to get them to the SOP.

You can't even find call ducks in our neck of the woods for any price!

I live just a stone's throw from Holderread's. It's about a 3 hour drive, but if I want quality calls from the state i have to go there.

Points should be updated now on the Call Breeders Website..... I know there were some people asking about them.

Sure wish I had the money to get some of the cool varieties of Orpingtons on auction. I would love to make a Jubilee Wyandotte....not really into the Orpingtons though.

I second Art having great birds and he is a really nice, honest guy too.....

Are you getting any commission at all on these? So far there are 4 auctions at $5000 each!

Can anyone tell me the variety of these call ducks ? the drake is really light colored, and the duck has blue feathers throughout and white throat(probably a mix)...any thoughts ? They have long bills and I know they are pet quality.

nope...our auction site is supported 100% by banner ads, we don't charge any fees and do not plan to.

Has anyone else had any experience with very aggressive Calls?
I have a little Gray male that is UNREAL aggressive with the other ducks and me. He hisses and attacks me any time I try to pick up his hen(understandable) or him. He even attacks when I pick up the feed or water bowl. He's like a territorial dog.
I personally find it amusing that he thinks he's that tough, but all of my other little guys are so cute and sweet, and then, there's the King, meanest Call around!
