I love this blog, you guys and girls get right to it and answer so quickly. Thanks so much. I have fallen hard for these cute and funny little ducks. They realy are amazing. I am starting a new coop and run for my chickens and ducks but i've decided to put a big inground pond in for the ducks so i'm gong to keep the runs separate. Last year i had a chicken who thought she was a duck and that she could swim. Well broke my heart but i did learn quickly about ponds and chickens.
The person i bought the new male from gave me the breaders web site and he says the male that you think is a cross between snowy and bibed is a Aleution Pied. Have you ever heard of that? He also says the whites are a larger genetic tester. We drove six hours to get those birds and i knew they were a little bit bigger but they are so pretty.
I had to stop incubating the eggs from the trio cause i have two ducklings that have had problems with thier bill. They are born perfectly normal and then within a few days the top bill doesn't grow with the bottom. Here is a pic.

This little one died the third day, she was born with half a top bill.

Did i do the right thing by taking all thier eggs out of the bator?

It could be a Aleution Pied! They are very rare in the US.
Yes, you did do the right thing by takeing the eggs out! Did you collect eggs from both of the hens or is it just from one hen?

Well thats the problem. I don't know which one of the whites it is from, the trio is still separated from the rest of the ducks cause i wanted to make sure who was with who. I wanted to make sure my snowy and butter were together and the other three were together. The problem is the white calls are like twins and they are together and they lay in the same place together. It's like they are twins and they don't do anything without the other. It's cute but i don't know who is laying which egg. Once i move them to the new coop and run i will separate them and try again to see who has the bad eggs. Poor birds, i feel bad for them but i guess it happens even in ducks. I am only keeping the snowy and butter eggs in the bator and the first two have both pipped today so i'm interested to see what comes from them. Hope they hatch easier than the last ones. I'm ready if i have to help. It was touch and go with the others, i lost quit a few so close to the end. I didn't know when to help, as to early or to late. I hope i do better with these ones. They are smaller eggs to.

I anyone still awake on here? I need some help cause i don't want to loose these little calls. Yesturday they internaly pipped and this morning the first one externaly pipped and this afternoon early it also externaly pipped. Now there is a small tiny finger nail size shell whole but the problem is there is that white skin still covering the opening. I can see the little bill trying to get through but they seem to be getting slower and tiered. I've lost to many of these little guys so do i just put a little whole in the skin so they can at least breath???? Help me please if you can. Thank you very very much. I've asked this question on three different pages and no answer. Thats what happened last time and i lost four of them. Angie.

LOL, he said, Linda come look, there is the larger snowy call in a seperate holding area he hatched from a egg in the incubator, I say where is the momma, she was not in her usual beautiful habitat with the drake, he said come with me Linda, so we pass the giant turtle that weights 1,000 pounds you can get on and ride, LOL, we pass the snow geese, then the barnacle, then the sebstapol, then the exotic rabitits, then the elpaca, then pass the emu, then pass the peacock, then pass the well get to a pen, and there is the hen with the two babies, I said OH MY GOSH, excited, he said Linda do you want to buy all three of them I said, REALLY, REALLY, he said yes, I said box them up with ribbons, and brought them and paula and paulie home, so this morning go out to check on everyone, I had two other babies, yep yep, 2 white call babies off my Eric Olson and Tina Hollingshed white calls one each, then I go on about checking everyone, we had bad storm last night, expecting another, and I have 7 Beautiful Minature silver appleyard babies with there mommie hatched, I got to say to all my strong beilvers that talked me out of selling all my calls last fall, THANK YOU, I have finally achieved hatching calls in the Sportsman after 3 yrs, so many tears, so many lives lost, so many failures, I have hatched those tiniest eggs off those two white calls in it, again I am a blessed women to have FRIENDS, like you all, all the tips, and pointers, and encouragement, well I am a blessed women.
