To heck with what others think.... if she is eating, drinking and growing and able to get around enough to feed, then she is Ok and you should be applauded for taking on the special cases. When she swims she will do what she is able to and enjoy with keeping herself safe.

Why would you cull her? She looks happy and adorable.
I agree-you are not being cruel. Tell them to take a long walk off of a short pier!

I use a coffee cup, but I try not to drink coffee out of it after the hatching season...LOL

We have found leaving them in the hatcher a little longer really helps the flipping over problem, the better they are the more they seem to want to flip over. We are not freaks, but we like to put the ducklings in one of those plastic bin hatchers we use and put them on the end table in the living room for the first three days or so. If you see one on its back you just flip it back over....we hardly ever lose one anymore to this problem. The shorter the body, shorter legs, big heads and little bills...are make that little ducklings unstable the first few days...

Thanks to all of you,(Lund Poultry, Heatherindeskies, easttxchick, and turbo). I've been woundering what i could do for the tiny ones, don't want to lose anymore. I'm having trouble with a few in the bator. I've had to toss three so far, and there's six left that seem to be coming along fine. Mom decided she wanted to sit on some so i've let her. Maybe she can do a better job than i have been. I will keep an eye on her and her eggs. She realy didn't want me to take the few she's on, (5 of them).
As for my little funny faced one. I would never do anything like cull her unless she was in pain. My parents didn't get rid of me and i've had 20 some surgery's since i was ten years old. I spent months at a time in hospitals, (most of the surgery's had to do with my back or bladder and internal). They didn't get rid of me or cull me. I also have an autistic grandaughter. I have five grandchildren and i don't say it out loud to anyone else but she has always been my favorite. Just love her to death, when people use the term special thats my little girl.
Anyway thanks to all of you, sometimes i get kind of down but these little guys keep me going. I'm always in pain but these ducks chickens and especialy the special ones get me out of bed and keep me on my toes, so to speak. lol
I meen realy how could anyone not love this little face? She sleeps, eats, drinks, swims and plays with her brothers and sisters and none of them pick on her, it's only humans that seem to pick on her.

That's because they're too blind to see beauty in anything that's "less than perfect". Makes me want to give them(humans) a big
