Why me??

We picked up a trio of Charlie Hodums line of White Call Ducks yesterday for my wife, Catherine. Everyone else had something to show, but her. We got our first egg today and she said, "Save it for the incubator."

We bought them from a 4H member, Greg Simmons, in Shreveport, Louisanna.

What do you think? Can anyone tell us more about this line?

I have found if I raise my temp a degree and half per say from 99.5 to 100.5 I get more females now I don't know if there is a scientific reason behind it, but the lower the temp and the slower the hatch cycle produces me all males

I have even done 101 for 21 days and had all females to hatch, you can ask about anyone with a great call breeder line, I am always hunting darm males, because I always hatch females

Well now that one is a dang really a dang good question, and sitting here trying not to be a SMART------ how about a heating pad on low, or those 72 hour warmers, or putting the boody chicken and her laying box/nest in more sunny heated area of your resident, another suggestion I might add is the kind of bedding in the nest, I was using pine straw, and changed mined several times experimenting the type of nexting box also plays a part in heat control, I put a quarter inch piece of ply wood in the bottom of all mine and there is a wheat field next to my home, when they cut the wheat I went and raked up the cuttings left and filled my nesting boxes thick with these cuttings, and this works better for me and you can actually feel the heat in the nest when you slide your hand in under the chicken??? I was only first of all sharing my experience with me trying to impove my ratio of females and males in the hatching cycle--stage and give you an idea that I use, but nevertheless, BEST WISHES and hope you have a HAPPY 4th.

They said I am on their list and as soon as they know what is available they will let me know. Save me some white and regular mandarin pairs and wood ducks for when i come to pick up the geese if I can get them please. I am gonna sell all my khaki campbell, blue swedish, mallard, white pekin ducks to get me some wild ducks. I am gonna keep all my calls and the white mallard pair. I am gonna get about 5 kinds of teals then 3 kinds of pintails.
