I agree with you about Holderreads...except I haven't seen a really good pair of calls come from them that you could place at a large show, and I have had two friends buy their elite "the best" gray calls they have available...you should see the pictures, long bills, terrible type. I am just being honest......they are call ducks, but pet quality at best. I just dont think it is possible for a hatchery to mass produce good quality call ducks, call ducks dont work like that.

However their East Indies are a different story, I know of several people who have won Best Bantam Duck at fairly large shows with birds directly from Holderreads...and their Runners seem to show well at shows in this area....but I wouldnt buy call ducks from them.

If you are going to buy calls and have them shipped, ask for pictures of the birds and try to buy from breeders that have a good reputation...Lee Morey has a good rep, but remember no call breeder is going to sell you their best bird, but they will sell you breeders that can produce SQ birds. I always try to buy calls that I think will make good breeders...I dont buy the show birds, and this has worked well for my breeding program.

I am using this post to display the ducks I have available. One person from Ky. wanted one drake here are four drakes I have

The two young drakes have great heads and necks but this was the only shot I could get off my computer to photo bucket the other shot I can send to you buy email
which was a nice normal shot. These two drakes are hatched in May.

Two people wanted a pair each. So the two females are shown. Hard to get good pictures today its was so cold and windy.

Hope this helps. All gray calls are from Art Lundgren line and the two young drakes are males that I got from crossing a Lundgren hen to a Three year old Dennis Touchette Drake.

Merry Christmas. Bob Blosl

Hi I have Calls in White and Gray, I also have Bantam East Indie's as well as a disappointing pair of Large Pastel Calls.
I Traded 2 mandarin hens and some doves for my original white pair and 2 grey pairs from a show breeder Janet Collins. One gray pair was of show quality but unfortunately their eggs wouldn't hatch. The other grays eggs only hatched with help something I don't like doing, but when they pip and peep for 2 days you have to do something.
My white pair did excellent hatched 2 hatches last fall ,09 had 98% hatch on those they are breeder quality. The white drake gave out on me (wouldn't mate)this past spring and all their eggs were infertile.
I eventually sold the nonhatching Gray pair to someone who was going to split them up with Other Grays they had. I kept the good Gray pair to have to hatch this coming spring and I gave away the white drake. I purchased a White breeding pair and placed the lone white hen with them. I also purchased 2 pairs of Bantam East Indies form the same person and they are my favorite's
When someone here says it's hard to hatch calls you better believe it. I placed 30 eggs in the incu last spring I had 7 hatch with help, I can not begin to tell you how disappointed I was. So due to what I have read about how hard they are to hatch and my own experience I decided to only hold on to the White Trio and the one pair of Gray's. My bantam East Indies are proven breeders I was given one of their baby's when I bought them.
But this year is going to be the deciding year as to wether I continue with these calls or not I may just keep them as pets they are so sweet. I also followed a thread on here about rolling call eggs produced better hatch's. So I'm going to order me a top hatch incu that rolls the eggs to see if it indeed hatches Calls better than my Hova. I had a top hatch and hatched some pet quality calls in it and they popped right out of their shells, The top hatch quit on me last spring and I bought a Hova so I'm ordering another one.
I do this strictly as hobby, I really like these little ducks they are just fun to have
Heres the only pics I have right now, I will have to shrink some others and post them later

Need call duck breeders expertise.
Is there a set price for selling purebred Butterscotch Call Duck eggs? We have Grubbs waterfowl stock and Charly Hodums stock. All the pairs and trios have their own raised condo house. 6 for $30 be too high,12 -$50?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would say, place the eggs on eBay with a reserve price and allow the biddesr to set the price. I for one would bid, but probally stop at $25 or so. Some eggs are going extreemly high!

PS: Someone gave my son a Butterscotch drake, thus the only reason I would bid is to try and get him a hen hatched.
