Bantam Duck Page

I will look around and see who has what. I have been out the show quality game since daddy died and well I am shame to say really I just lost interest in mine and every one elses. Daddy would come on Sunday before church and sit in swing and feed them. He would just drop in several days a week and well Funky I just really miss him. I will though look through my short cut file and see if I can see any SQ and if I do I will let you know, it will be over the weekend.

Funky, check with Dutch out of Oklahoma (she posted often in the hatch day it today threat this year). Also check with Jesse Paul here on Florida. He has beautiful call ducks and is where our SQ greys, whites and blue fawns came when we kept CD. Not sure if butters are one his list, but he wouldnt steer you wrong for quality birds and recommendations.

Hi Robert!

Pretty Calls! There are quite a few people here with Calls, but not too many with the other bantam ducks. I am going to start posting more photos as this year's birds finish maturing. I have Calls in several colors, but the Calls are not really my primary focus at this point. I also have Australian Spotteds (all three colors), Mallards (Grey, Snowy, Blue Fawn, and Pastel), Miniature Overbergs, Miniature Appleyards/Silver Bantams, and a few others. I am currently working on developing a true Miniature Appleyard like they have in Europe and a Miniature Saxony.

I have had a few other bantam ducks over the years like the Black East Indies, which several BYC'ers have and I may add back this year after having sold mine several years ago. I know a few people here also have Silky Bantam ducks, which I am also considering adding this year. I would love to see pictures of everyone's birds!

Here are some of our bantam duck pens to start the pictures off....

I need to take some new pictures of them, but here are some of my Overbergs when I first got them last year...

Here are some of my newer Silver Bantams, right out of the box last year from Holderread's. I hatched a ton of ducklings from these birds this year...

Here is a couple group shots of some of the juvenile birds of various breeds up at the barn one night...

Finally, here is a Blue Fawn Mallard I hatched this year from an old Pastel drake and some unusually dark Mallard hens...

Love your pens! I began raising ducks with some ebay hatching eggs, last spring. I chose the bantam spotted australians for my first try at ducks. We hatched 8 last year and this year we are up to 15. In drakes, I have the green and silver heads, but I must confess, I am not very good at identifying which females are which. I also have raised pens (2), but we just finished erecting a fenced in 20'x20' area for them. The raised pens will be inside of that with a ramp (which they will never use! darn it!) and their pool. I was pretty excited about all the new space for them to roam around in, when I realized that with all that area, the little buggars have a good chance of becoming airborne and flying out. So, now we're looking for some flight netting to cover the top. : )
