Hi everyone.

I have read articles but I'm confused because there are so many answers.

Does it take shorter for bantam eggs to hatch? I recently had my first successful hatch with my broody girl, Pancake.

My silkie, Black Devil, has decided it's her time to be a mama. She's has two regular eggs and 2 bantam eggs beneath her.

I read where they could hatch as early as 16 days?? That can't be right??

Help.

My serama eggs sometimes hatch on day 18-19. I think the small eggs can develop faster then the lager ones. They can absorb more heat faster and don't have to grow as big.

My Cochin bantams typically hatch on day 20. Pip day 19. I hatched Sebright/OEGB eggs and they had internally pipped on day 18 when I put them into lockdown. Chicks by day 19.

Makes sense. Smaller chick equals less time. There is a lot of conflicting info out there. Thanks for your reply!

Not much difference then :) I'll just watch and make sure. My others hatched right on day 21, externally pipped late day 20. Thank you for your reply!! I'll watch these carefully to see what will happen. Thank you.
