Can anyone give me any information about the difference between a Salmon Favorelle and a Blue Salmon Favorelle?

In the first place, I think I'm right that it's "Blue Salmon" and not "Blue"???? But even that I may have wrong.

I currently have a trio of Bantam Salmon Favorelles but am wondering what the pros and cons are of adding some of the Blue line into the flock.

Thanks for any insights you have.

Susan

You would not get "blue" color in the Faverolles. In the Salmon Faverolles, you can see dark brown to black tints in the feathers of tail and their downs are white. For the blue Salmon Faverolles, you will see washy blueish grey color tints in their feathers of tail and their downs are very light greyish blue, not white. The Salmon males chests are black and the Salmon Blue males have anywhere from dark blue to light blue chests.

That is what one of the Faverolle breeder told me the difference in the two breeds.

If you cross them, you will get both colors. I dont see any problems using both colors in the flock but some of the breeders are puristists at best would stick with one color to one same color, not crossing them.

Heres the pic of my Blue Salmon Faverolle pullet.

Oh my, bless my naive little soul.

I just got it that my trio is probably really three roos....I've been waiting and waiting for one of them to distinguish himself as THE roo, and I've been talking myself into being able to see that one of them is ...... But today I see that I've been fooling myself. No way is that dark coloring and those irridescent black markings going to morph into a fluffy soft buff and white HEN....

Whaaaaaaaaaaa........

I guess ya gotta laugh at yourself before anyone else gets the chance....right?

So, anyway, back to the source to see if she can help me, and then I guess I'll really really need some BSF eggs since I'm not gonna get any of my own from these "guys"....

Oof.
