Chicken question....
I bought these two at the same time from the same "Production Blue" cage. As I understand it a Production Blue is a cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Black Australorp, so I assume there could be a bit of difference between the look of the chicks. Anyway, Peep, my tiny one seems to be staying awfully small. Any thoughts on if she could be a Bantam? I don't really know much about Bantams.

Bantam refers to the size or weight of chicken. The smallest adults (Serama A) are around 400 grams. The larger ones over 1200 grams.
Some breeds only exist as bantam. Others have a normal sized counter part.
If you mix bantams you can expect bantams. If you mix normal sized chickens is rare to get bantams.

Often there is something wrong with the chick why she doesn’t grow properly.
Does she eat enough? Try to give her some extra’s and see if she needs it.

That's why I was questioning if she was possibly bantam.....due to her size/weight. She seems to eat just fine and has developed (feathered) just as quickly as the other chick. She just hasn't gotten as big, but again she did start out smaller than the other chick. Since I got her at a store, I really don't know if her parents could have been bantams. I guess time will have to tell. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 😊

some hens are just smaller and would be good stock if you wanted to breed some bantams yourself but ofc your would need a smaller than average roo as well and breed down to get smaller and smaller
