I am new to bantams. I have 6 that are now10 weeks. How soon can I start feeding pellets over crumbles? All 6 of my 10 month olds are eating starter and not touching their layer pellets. I am loosing a lot of feed in the bedding.

If they are layer pellets (with added calcium) you will not want to give them to birds that are not of laying age yet.

My Old English Game Bantams are too small to eat pellets. I feed mine 16% layer crumbles if thier not eating them the pellets may be too big for them

You've got the 10 week olds and the 10 months olds mixed?

IF this is the case, I'd suggest you seperate them until the 10 week olds are closer to the point of lay, say around 18 to 20 weeks of age. then you can put them all together and they will all be eating laying pellets. Right now, the younger ones really do need to be eating the starter feed to help ensure bettre development!

All the chickens are eating starter. Miss Prissy says it is a protein thing. Must taste better. My broody has taught the older chickens a good lesson and they all live in harmony. Egg production is way down now that winter has set in. The only time I see the chickens is when I feed, water, collect 1or2 eggs a day and close up the coop at night. I hate winter!!!!!!
