Hi,

I am new to the forum and my wife and I are pretty new to keeping chickens. We got our first 5 pullets(3 Pekins, 1 White Crested Poland and a Crevecoeur) back in March. Our Pekins all went broody so we used them to hatch some eggs that we bought. We now have 6 baby chicks(all bantams: 1 Lavender Araucana, 2 Cuckoo Marans, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Silver Pencilled Wyandotte and a Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhhauben).

They are all 7-9 days old now. The Araucana and the Marans under our Millefleur Pekin were the first to hatch.

Here are some pics of them all about a day or two old. I’ll add more pictures to the thread as they get older.

On the left is the Cuckoo Marans that we suspect is a male and the one on the right we think is female.

Same ones but this time in the left is the one we suspect is the female and the one on the right is suspected male. Definitely differences between them. These are now just over a week old.

On the left is our Appenzeller at a couple of days old and at just over a week. On the right is our Lavender Araucana.

And here’s our Buff Orpington and Silver Pencilled Wyandotte at the same intervals.
