Hi!
I have a broody bantam who is currently keeping eggs warm but now she has started to lay eggs and they are bigger than usual, what does this mean?

If your hen is actually broody and sitting on her eggs all the time day and night (this is what you mean by "keeping eggs warm"?) She should not be laying eggs right now ... if you are finding more eggs in her nest, probably some other hen is laying them in there... it is pretty common for other hens to lay eggs in the nest that a broody is using. You might want to separate her so the other hens can't get to her nest or mark the eggs she is sitting on, and remove any new eggs so you don't have a split hatch (hatch with eggs of different ages where the chicks don't all hatch about the same time) the broody will leave the nest a day or two after the first eggs hatch and if the other eggs are too far behind they won't be able to hatch in time. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-and-raising-chicks

She is broody and is now on the last egg to hatch which had split hatched as they were from different hens the others have no access to her best that's what I find odd.
