My bantam Wyandotte, one of three girls and no 2 in the pecking order, , is losing a significant amount of feathers from around her next, back and front. All I can think is that the no 1 must be pecking her although I have not seen any evidence of this. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Do you have a roo with them? What age is she? She could be moulting. Have you checked her for mites/lice?

No roo. She is about 18 months old. We are just going into winter here. No haven't checked for mites/lice; she is quite difficult to handle.

my Wayondotte is like that too! How do you tell if it is mites? She's been like this since January, and before we had any roosters?

I had a bantam roo of another type that looked like that. He has feather lice. I've had to dust him every few weeks because he is the only one that gets them for whatever reason.
