Bantam pair?

I just picked these two up, I found for free to good home in the paper. Only thing is I
now have a rooster, which is alright we live in the country. So they were advertised as Banty's, and the lady said she thought maybe Cochin or Silky. I am not sure either way and still a little new to chickens. But they do great at keeping grasshoppers at bay. Anyways any help identifying the newest additions to my flock would be greatly appreciated.

I also forgot to mention they were born this spring, he is crowing but she hasn't started to lay yet. Not sure if that helps?

Little dude looks like maybe a Japanese bantam, except for the feathered legs..... Not sure on the pullet either lol, she looks like a polish, but the feathered vfeet ate throwing me off... Maybe more experienced eyes can help out ...


I suppose he could be a silver laced Cochin but his tail is really pointy... I'm curious to see what the consensus is...

Thanks for your input, I am also curious to see the consensus and may post more pics as they grow up a bit or if anyone thinks a better angle is needed.

The feathered feet are definitely entertaining though, watching them scratch and chase bugs

The splash girl (or is she maybe "paint"? Idk) is definitely a mix. I'm thinking sultan crossed with...? No idea. It would help to see close-up photos of her comb. And for the rooster, it looks like it could possibly have some Cochin in it mixed with something else. I'll have to look up some stuff about other bantam breeds...

The little girl is a Paint Silkie crossed with a Cochin. I have paints, and CochinXSilkies. No paint silkie cochins though...she's super pretty! Paint is a rare colour, you're lucky to find her, even if she is a mix!
As for little dude...I'm getting a cochin vibe, but there's something else too. Not Silkie, but I don't have a clue what it is. Japanese look to him, maybe Hamburg? I dunno, but your little girl is screaming "I'm a paint Silkie crossed with a Cochin of some kind!"

I agree on the paint silkie x- maybe cochin mix. Very pretty. The roo has the most beautiful markings. Probably cochin x who knows what.

I was thinking sultan cross because the face looks lighter, not dark like a silkie, and she has vulture hocks. But I've heard of that being a common disqualification (or something like that) in silkies, so idk.

I would have NEVER got that one lol.... She is pretty! I'd take some like her for sure, she would match my Hamburgs and Anconas very nicely

Please could you tell me the difference between paint and splash?

Splash is a result of blue to blue breeding... splash color is only on tips of feathers as well, while paint is a fully colored feather all the way down the shaft...
