Next year I'll be buying some Polish chicks for our Bantam mixed hen to raise since she goes broody every spring & summer. I know I'll end up with some cockerels so they'll be given away while I keep the pullets.
I want to keep a few Gold Laced pullets to breed with our Gold Laced cockerel(Seen in my profile picture).

How do I choose which ones to keep?
What do I look for in their pattern, feathers, shape, etc..?

Our cockerel is starting to look, aside from comb, like a well bred Polish cockerel now that more feathers have grown in but I'd like to choose good looking pullets to breed with him so that their chicks look better.

If your intent is to raise and show, attend local shows and get birds from someone who does well at the shows. You may be better off using one of the young cockerels that you raise. If your cockerel is a special pet and that is your goal, it makes no difference which pullets you keep.

Not for showing. Even though our local fair is the only place to do 'local shows' that I know of, I don't plan on showing our chickens for a while. I may enter our Black Australorp next year but I haven't completely decided yet.
Anyway, I just want them to look really good for when I start selling baby chicks. There were a few Polish breeders nearby that kept asking me if I was selling any Gold Laced chicks but I said no. They assumed I was due to the photos I kept posting of our cockerel.
I want to sell them baby chicks that look the best.
