Bantam Roo Identification

Ok, I have a black and white bantam with fully feathered yellow legs and a pea comb. Im thinking Brahma?? The lavender in the other picture, I have no clue. He has alot of the OE qualities, but his comb is wrong. He is only about the size of a big dove and is about 5 months old. Both Roos are same age.

Your feather footed bird is a dark Brahma and your little guy is an Old English Game Bantam.
His comb is fine, that is what they usually look like, they are just often dubbed [have their comb and wattle cut off] to prevent damage, frost bite, and to conform to show standards.

Awesome!, Thanks for your help. The OE had me stumped, since the comb in all the pictures i've seen have indeed been "dubbed" Would you recommend having this done for him, i live in NJ. We do see some temps in the teens here in winter. Even my orpingtons have had some frostbite on the very tips of the comb. My coop is an old corn crib that I converted to a coop, so it has plenty of ventilation and I use the deep litter method.

It's usually done for show, but if you are afraid he will suffer from frost bite when older then it would be a good reason to get it done.
It's really up to your discretion. Some people think of it as cruel because there's some blood involved, and of course, it has to be a painful procedure itself, since flesh is cut, but frost bite is painful as well, so it's a matter of weighing things up against each other.

You might want to consider asking for opinions in one of the boards here about specific breeds. They can give you a more informed opinion.

You can always put Vaseline on the combs very few days during the extremely cold months!
