I have done a seach and could not find any information on this, although I know someone must have asked this before.

I have a bantam roo, and I am just wondering what the chicks would be if he were to mate with my standard hens. ( I have many various breeds).

Would they be medium size birds?

thank you!

I ended up with medium-sized hens that lay small to medium eggs. It's great if you don't have much space and want more hens

, but not so great if you're selling eggs... everybody wants large eggs.

On the other hand, having a full-sized roo with bantam hens doesn't work either. They're the easiest to catch, so the roos will mate them to the point of no feathers on their backs.

I ended up separating them into two runs.

I had a very active Black bantam cochin roo that mated EVERYTHING. From standard welsummers I hatched my "Pretties".

They are the size of bantam cochins, but are solid like a welsummer. The weigh about 3 pounds each. Their feathers are tighter then a cochin.

I have a few chicks from standard EE hens crossed with a japanese bantam roo. They hatched about the same size as the other chicks but grew faster. They aren't full grown yet but are smaller than standards near their age and about twice the size of the jap chicks they hatched with.
