So we got the Ideal Poultry Bantam Special. I'm pretty sure these ones are either Cochins or Brahma bantams. Most likely all Buff. We did get a bunch of other looking ones, but I took them out of these photos since we will be keeping those ones. These ones we are going to re-home. And I wanted to make sure that I they are most likely Cochins or Brahma's. All are feathered Legs, some more then others. So my question is... Are Cochins more feathered, and then the Brahma's are less feathered right? And are the golden going to be Buff and the brown chipmunk going to be Partridge Cochins?

Thanks

So far as I know Ideal carries five kinds of feather footed bantams. Sultans, Brahmas, Cochins (regular and frizzle), d'Uccles, and silkies. The sultans should have top knots and the silkies extra toes and skin color which should be pretty easy to see I think? Pretty much the only other thing they could be is d'Uccles and those should be bearded and smaller in theory? Color wise I don't know, they carry at least 10-12 colors last time I looked, and half of them look alike as chicks, I've had standard partridge cochins and they were kind of a dark brown with fuzzy stripes, something like that chick in the last picture on the bottom left. The cochins should have more foot feathering than the brahmas, but these are hatchery birds and they may or may not...

Thanks! We didn't get any Silkies or Sultans, I we did get a few d'Uccles and Milles, several blue's as well, we took those ones out for our selves, and now we just have a bunch of brown chipmunks, most likely partridge Cochin, they are heavy feathered, and then a good mix of the buff. When will they start to Frizzle if they are Frizzles?

Sounds like you got a pretty nice assortment overall. You can usually start to tell when they have about half an inch or more of the wing feathers in, the frizzles will start to curl or look bent, some you can tell earlier than others, usually by a week you will have a good idea on a lot of them, some will take longer to be sure. Feathersite has some pictures of frizzle chicks on there if you haven't seen them.

Forgot, looked at Ideals cochin bantams, they have 13 colors of regular and 3 colors of frizzle.
