I have a bantam that is always in the nesting box when I check for eggs. I've removed the eggs from below her, but she still stays in there. In general she seems healthy, but this is new behavior. Suggestions? She's about 1 1/2 years old.

she's broody its a motherly instinct hens get and they want to sit on (incubate) their eggs.

if you want her to sit on eggs you can leave her. or if you don't want chicks, then try putting her in a separate cage for a couple days to break her. I don't have much experience with making them stop being broody, I usually let them incubate the eggs.

do you have a rooster?

No rooster, were in town, otherwise chicks would be fun. She's kind of cranky anyway, so I will try to seperate her a bit. thanks!
