bantam sumatras

I learned to do picures, yay! This is the best photo I could get, she is a bit shy. She is developing a small comb.....I don't know for sure what a pea comb is....but it is maybe turning red. I was told she is a Phoenix pullet, but I don't know......Sumatra maybe? Very black with a pretty turquoisey blue glimmer in the sun. She is very cute and built low to the ground.

Very nice looking bird!

A pea comb doesn't have any fingers at the tips. The comb sort of grows buds close to the head. :-)

I can see little "bumps". Just hard to get a good look. Or a close picture. Even on the roost she always has her back turned to me, lol. I'll check out some comb pictures and see if I can figure it out.

The pullet's name has been changed to Ebony. She has quit going in the coop at night.....sleeps up under our porch about six feet off the ground. I have seen her check out the nest box a couple of times but no eggs yet. I still don't really know what she is, but looks much more like photos of Sumatras to me instead of a Phoenix. But she is what she is. The first night she stayed out of the coop I thought she was a goner. She has been out about 4 or 5 nights now. I could try to catch her but I'm not sure I could catch her where she is roosting. She seems very happy there and goes over to the coop in the mornings to check out the food when I open the gate.
