Hi
Due to the loss of four full size chickens to an unknown source i am now left with a light sussex full size hen, 3 peking hens, 1 peking cockerel and an orpington bantam hen. I am wondering if all these chickens will live happily in the same enclosure until summer when i am hoping to hatch some more laying hens under one of the bantams? The peking cockerel is quite feisty but dont think he can tackle the light sussex hen.

As long as they've all lived together all along, I don't see why not. With fewer hens for the roo to breed though, you may want to get some aprons for the girls to protect their backs though...

Oh, wait, I thought you meant pekin ducks, not bantam cochins!

Silly me...

Yes, they'll be fine together. I have a ton of bantams and standards together and they've always done just fine. I've never had an issue with the two of them clashing. Like any other introduction, make sure no one in particular is being overly bullied, but you really shouldn't have any serious problems.

My bantams and full size chickens do fine together. However, the big girls pick on the little rooster so much that he has a pretty bad attitude now! He definitely has short man's syndrome! But the other bantam actually gets picked on the least out of everyone in the coop.
