hi, I'm relatively new at chickens. I currently own 10 standard chickens, 9 hens and a roo. They are 8 weeks old. I also own 8 partridge silkies who are 5 weeks old. These were straight run and my intention was to keep the hens and give away the roos. I am lucky to have a very nice large coop. It was a one room cabin which we converted, plenty of room (and lots of charm, with exposed beams and even a chandelier

my chickies will be free range on 7 acres of apple orchard and lawn. Right now, all the chickens get along beautifully, no pecking, lots of cuddling between them. They have been raised together and are a tight nit group.

I've read many posts that standards and bantams can be housed together, and when I was growing up we always had both and housed them together. I don't remember any problems that we had. But lately I've been reading that the two groups can't live together harmoniously. I'm looking for input from people who have tried to do this. all honest input is appreciated. Sorry this is so long!

I have had no real problems with them living together. They peck among themselves more than between breeds. Now you say yyou are mom to six, I know they had their fights.
