Bantams for eggs?

I adore our bantam cochins! And yes, we use their eggs all the time. We have a mixed flock, mostly large fowl breeds, but there are ten bantam hens running around in there. Their eggs are 1/2 to 2/3 the size of the other hens' eggs (except for whoever keeps laying those freaking hen grenades

), so they're quite usable.

I have a Dutch and Old English Game mix Bantam hen that lays six eggs a week but they are very small! It would take a whole dozen to feed a family of four breakfast. However, if you don't mind a loud chicken then bantams make the best pet chickens. In my experiance Dutch and Game Bantams are the sweetest and you will never regret getting them for your coop. PLUS you have never seen a prettier chick than a bantam Game. I wish you the best.

This is my first chick of the year (hatched an entire day before any other chick) a pure Old English Game bantam:

HOW CUTE HUH?

I only have one banty but I think she lays a slightly more quality egg then my dark brahma. They are small but larger than you would think, and not really that much smaller than the brahma considering she has those big birthin' hips!

I'm not kidding, she's as wide as she is long!
