hi, I have chickens but i am new to bantams. i found some nice ones for sale online near where i live. the guy is telling them in pairs, one pullet and one cock. is it ok to keep a pair of bantams like this? or will the cock over-breed the poor hen to death? please let me know, I couldn't find my answer elsewhere! THANKS!!!

They a bit more a feisty and active breed, you could try and see how it goes, worse case you will need more hens, bantam seem better with less hens 4-8 seem to be the best numbers, though I have seen some bantam roosters form a loving bond with a single hen and be absolutely in love with her and only her.

I think the most my wife would let me get away with would be two hens and a Roo. Hopefully that will be enough for him. Heck, if I only get 1 wife, he should be happy with two!

This made me about fall over laughing. Perhaps make sure they are not the nagging kind.

All jokes aside... I like the OEGB and hope things work out well for them and you.

No advice really but you made me laugh and I thought you should know that.

Your wife might change her mind when she sees how stinking cute they are and how squeaky the crow. Sorry you are stuck with a single wife, my husband thinks one is more than enough.

I like the black tailed buff better, but it's what you like in the coloring.

Edited to add I think you mean the regular red and black coloring by the old English color.
