Well, then they should do pretty well with those breeds. Mild is not a way that I would describe my climate LOL. We have a lot of snow in the winter and the chickens hate it XD. I do agree that the feathered legs can be a problem at times. It's hard to get them to look nice.

does anybody have experience with Japanese bantams or sibrights
Those tend to be more fragile in the weather. Sebrights have fertility issues, and you can’t breed too short-legged Japanese together, but they’re both great breeds. If that’s what you want, I say go for it.
