Banties with Layers?

I plan to separate my banties from my layers. I have SLW is this neccessary? My DH doesn't think so but I don't want the banties to have to fight for feed or water the SLW are big and the banties are so tiny

I have 5 banty hens in with (was 34 now 24 due to maybe fox attack) my large fowl. I have braham, EE, production red large fowl. Also, I just combined a group of large fowl 8 week old with 4 and 5 week old bantums (mix) in the same area of the coop, and it is going well last few days. I haven't had a problem. HOpe that helps.

We have 10 chicks - 9 weeks old - and they are a mix of big and little chicks - 2 White Leghorn, 2 Tetra Tint, 2 bantam Cochin, 4 bantam OEGB/Silkie mix. They all do fine together!! I haven't had any problems at all!!

If they are raised together, all should be fine.

I integrated a single d'uccle with my flock. She's tough and can hold her own. She was a very little feisty thing when I first brought her home too. She showed every chick she was tough. She's pretty high up in the pecking order too. My d'uccle lays eggs with the top hen together and all the other girls. My d'uccle never lays an egg alone.

I have a totally mixed flock & they all get along fine. I even have ducks in my smaller coop with chicks that are 1-4 weeks older than them. My flock is about 1/2 LF & 1/2 bantum. Right now all I am separating out are the younger chicks into the smaller coop connected to the big coop. Once most of my birds mature to almost full grown I will separate banties from LF & put my breeder pairs/trios into breeder pens. The separation isn't due to concerns over fighting but a desire to keep LF large & bantums small
