Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster

I don't have any experience with roos, but I adore my 2 SLW pullets. They aren't very affectionate but they are friendly and love to talk to me.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cold in Oklahoma. Honestly, most chickens tolerate cold fairly well, as long as they're properly acclimated. It got down to about -10⁰F the other day here and the girls weren't happy about it, but they were fine.

In my opinion it'd be best to go with heat hardy breeds. But I'm no expert so refer to any educators and other experienced users who comment first!
Honestly, when I was getting chicks, and before I got them, I had no intention of getting a SLW, because I had a family member who had wyandottes in the past just go on and on about how bad they are, not aggressive but just not a breed to have as a pet, or that their egg laying wasn't as good, etc. I got mine because some of the other breeds that day wasn't what I was looking for, and I am so thankful I did get her. She's like yours, not affectionate but is friendly and does talk alot. She's probably my loudest hen and is always sure to let everyone in the neighborhood know she's ready to lay an egg. Compared to my other chickens, even my buff orpingtons, I love her demeanor. She may not be as cuddly, my leghorn is more cuddly then her, but her personality is what I absolutely love. It's just hard to explain without knowing her, but she's definitely one of my favorites. I also love her RBF, she always looks so mean or angry, but she's one of the nicest chickens in my flock.
