I have a bantam chick that is a mix between a cochin and some unknown breed. I was wondering when she/he will be full developed, in feather growth, and then size wise. Today he/she is a week and one day old, and already has wing feathers. Also, around when will I be able to know when she is hen or roo?

Thanks, AJ

You don't say how old your chick is, most chicks are fully feathered at about 5 or 6 weeks, mature and ready to lay eggs at about 20 weeks.

Hi have a flock of 21 Banties, who are 18 weeks old. I have 5 Mottled cochins in this mix (2 boys/cockerals & 3 girls/pullets). I could tell the two boys around 6 weeks old due to the size of their combs and their small wattles.

This is a scary pic but he is fine, just going thru feathering changes at 6 weeks old.

Same boy at 17 weeks old...
