Barbary Dove (ring-neck) Info?

I'm having trouble finding good info on these birds, as I'm hoping to aquire a pair before Christmas. Saw a few videos and there appears to be more to these guys than I thought! Trainable and affectionate? I'm getting as excited about it as my son is. Can anyone recommend a good website? I cannot find a thing!

You can also go to the ADA (American Dove Association) website and order a book called "Ringneck Doves: A handbook of care and breeding" by K. Wade Oliver, it is very informative and has several color pictures to help you identify the variety of your bird.

We've kept a pair of ringnecks as pets for several years now. They are by far the easiest parent raised birds to tame that we've ever worked with. In our experience, chickens are easier to train to do tricks, though, because of their insatiable desire for treats. It is possible to train doves to fly to your hand because my daughter has done it.

I"m not sure what you mean by "affectionate." Most birds aren't particularly cuddly type creatures, and I would say doves are like most birds in this respect.

We love the soft cooing and "laughing" of our doves.
