Bare bottom babies

A couple of my Barred Rocks babies have bare bottoms and had them when I bought them, but I didn't know any better. They did have pasty butt, which I cleaned off. Is the bare bottoms part of pasty butt or what else could it be?

Can you take/post pictures of the babies? A lot of times if they have pasty butt you accidentally take off the down when you clean them, so they will wind up looking kind of bald... some chicks also don't have a much down as others.

I hope you don't mind my jumping on here; I have been having a similar problem.

After searching around BYC, I am not sure if I should be highly concerned, or just waiting it out. I have two Brahmas that I guess were "treated" for pasty butt at the store, by removing feathers. While one has filled out normally, the other chick remains quite bare on her butt. Is this *still* normal? Protein issue, genetics? I see no pecking from the other girls.
