Bare bottom chick Please help

Im a first time chick owner and I just got baby chicks on Sunday, one has already died, but now my biggest one is laying down a lot,even while eating. Ot is also breathing hard.It's butt was covered in hard poop so cleaned it off but it's but looks so bare. Is this normal? And is it normal for it to be laying down so much?

I'm guessing it has omphalitis. If so, it doesn't bode well for it. Is it's belly swollen and mushy?

I don't think so. It looks normal to me. And the poop is normal too.

Sara, that view looks much more promising. Have you considered using fermented feed? When ever I've had chicks with digestive upsets, FF sets them straight within 24 hours.
