Bare Bum

One of my four girls has a bare spot about 3 inches in diameter around her vent. Otherwise acting fine. why?

Can you post a picture? Sometimes they will be feather picked by another chicken, which could lead to vent pecking and injury. They may also peck their own feathers out. Look at the area under her vent into the feathers for tiny tan bugs that could be lice or mites that could be irritating her. Permethrin is good to use every 7 days until they are gone, but don't use it unless you see bugs.

I agree with Eggcessive. It could be feather picking, but beat to post a pic so we can "diagnose" better.
