You didn't mention hen/rooster ratio. On the off-chance your ratio is good, could they be molting?

I ask as I had put a saddle on my chocolate silkie, Charlotte, thinking she was getting ridden too much. Usually, during molting, they lose them from the head/neck area first, and she was losing them where the rooster's feet land, so that's why I thought wrong...she was molting.

You don't have to pen up your roosters to keep them separate, just keep them in a different area if you have the land space. When they are away from the hens, they have nothing to fight about.

We have a hen that is a favorite of the 2 roos. I'll probably make a saddle from a lightweight material to see if it works. It been very warm and I'm thinking some saddles could make her too hot.

Welcome to BYC. If the cockerels are young it doesn't matter what your ratio is. If one is breeding a female the others will pile on. It can lead to injuries and even a broken neck. Seperate your boys until they are older.

Every chicken is different. I have one that's been moulting for I swear a year. She started on her neck. Then slowly to her back. Her neck is almost all back to normal, and her back is still mostly bare. Most of my others don't lose all their feathers like she did. Some just lose about half and start regrowing, and some I barely realized were even molting.
