Bare spot on neck

Hi,

I have a 2 1/2 month old Red Star pullet with a bare spot on her neck. The other chick we have doesn't have one, so I wasn't sure if I should be concerned. The spot appears on each side. ?

Those appear to be her ear lobes

If that's the case, this hen is more mature that her ear lobes are larger spots

Yes no worries, those are earlobes!

Why wouldn't they be covered with feathers? I haven't seen similar spots on other birds. Maybe I should start applying sunscreen.
