My poor Australorp hen is apparently too sexy for her own good:
She's also getting bare patches on each side of her back, so I assume this is from getting mounted too much. Seems odd, because ther are 24 hens for the 2 roosters, but maybe this one bird is the hottie? I don't notice her getting mounted any more often than the other girls.
Anyway, my question is what to do about it. I could make a saddle for the back damage, but what about the head? Or is that from some other cause? It seems a little strange that she would be the only one to show any damage from the roosters. All the others are fine. She seems otherwise quite healthy, active, and isn't at the bottom fo the pecking order.
Do I have to separate her from the flock for a while? That would be hard on her as well as us...
