barn cat

I am thinking og getting a barn cat for mice but worried about the cat messing with the chickens can folks with barn cats chime in please

My daughter has about 20 or so barn cats some come and go, they don't bother her ducks and geese and they left the full grown chickens alone when she had chickens. My cat stalks my 12 week old chicks there is no doubt in mind he would kill them. He ignores my older year old hen in fact looks a little terrified of her. Taz is a big cat all muscle 15 lbs

It depends on the cat. What someone else's cat does is not legally binding upon your own cat.

The neighbors cat which lives 400 yards away visits alot, goes in the barn and eats mice and doesn't bother the 3 mo old chickens at all. Some of my chickens are crazy though and I think "cat" knows that. My dogs know and steer clear. I would definetly worry about baby chicks though.

Thanks thinking of trying to find a younger get that will be around the birds from a young age
