Barn swallows HELP Something ate the eggs!

I have tried for six years to get barn, swallows to nest near my barn, in my barn, anywhere. At last I have a nest in my garage, which is not a garage really it’s more of a barn.

I have a beautiful nest and a pair of swallows that dutifully laid six eggs. I checked this morning no eggs. NONE. I’m devastated.

What ate them??????????

Do you have squirrels? They like to raid nests.

Is there a way that a snake could have gotten to them? Snakes love bird eggs and were always after our bluebird eggs in TN.

No squirrels.

I suspect a snake, but there are HEN’S eggs.. 20x bigger than a swallow’s egg much closer. The only thing I can think of that could easily get that high is mice. Soooo discouraged
