Barnevelder x black Ameraucana

He’s my only rooster with her and there is no escaping or free ranging, definitely came from him I’ve been breeding true ameraucanas for years the blacks do produce blue especially when bred to a blue hen with my ameraucanas he usually has 50/50 blue and black chicks which is very typical for true ameraucanas when bred to blue hens. I again was just wondering if the chick will end up with lacing like the mother or not. I know for sure the roosters lines and that it came from him and this specific hen.

Yes, you do get blue offspring from a black x blue breeding. On average half are black and half are blue. However you cannot get blue from a black x black breeding.

In your barnevelder pic there is a blue hen. Is she in the same pen?

I do have black and blue ameraucanas and have never had a blue chick hatch from any of my black hens. The barnevelder is the only hen in that coop that lays a tan egg so it has to have come from her. Those are definitely the two parents and again I know the roosters lineage for many generations as he came from the top ameraucana breeder in the US. I was definitely suprised getting a blue as very one of his crossed chicks have always hatched black no matter the hens color. I also separated the eggs in compartments so I know that chick had to have come from her egg. That was the only one that I set of hers and moved her to a different coop a few days before the chicks hatched but I am setting another 2 of hers out of curiosity but am doubting they are fertile by now.
