I am located in Lincolnshire (LN11 postcode) and I'm keen to speak to like minded Barnevelder breeders, I've started small with 3 hens and a cock and I have just successfully bred 6 chicks, my idea is to expand my flock so I will be keeping some of the hens which means I will want to change my cock to avoid interbreeding and find homes for any new cocks in my brood, I'm on Learning curve so any advise would be appreciated, my aim being to breed the best possible

I would get a new bloodline from a batch of hatching eggs and cross the new bloods with your own flock. That'll call for a healthy new generation. However I believe there are a lot of people who breed related chickens such as "line breeding" to contain certain traits. You might want to look into that.

! Great to have you here! There is a Barnevelder thread in the link below - you might be able to establish some contacts for your surplus birds. Good luck to you!
